We seek to understand molecular mechanisms of:
• Regulation of Ion conduction and Assembly of Potassium Channels
• Specificity and Assembly of TGF-beta ligand and receptor complexes
• Expression Methods for EUKARYOTIC membrane proteins and Structure-guided Drug Discovery by NMR
Our research goal deals with problems related to protein assembly and molecular recognition in biology, currently focussed on molecular workings of potassium channels and transmembrane signaling receptors of TGFbeta superfamily.
Major experimental tools are x-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, combined with site-specific mutagenesis and protein chemistry to probe underlying mechanisms at molecular level.
