We aim to develop methods to produce and analyze Human Integral Membrane Proteins (hIMP) for structural and functional characterization, and for clinical studies. Using x-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, we will visualize atomic details of hIMP and their associating proteins and ligands. Using biophysical and chemical tools, we will devise novel in-silica methods to detect markers and measure affinity of protein complexes. By understanding their mechanisms of action, we will develop therapeutic means employing target-directed drugs against infectious and degenerative diseases.
